The allotted funding comes through USDA and will provide approximately three weeks of benefits.
President Donald Trump’s administration has allocated $450 million in tariff revenue to support the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC). The federal shutdown had threatened the benefits of almost 7 million Americans who are eligible for the program that assists women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have children under the age of 5.
The funding was drawn from tariff revenue directed toward the Department of Agriculture for commodity and disaster assistance. The funding is anticipated to provide roughly three weeks of benefits.
The WIC program provides nutrition and breastfeeding support and covers the purchase of infant formula, cheese, bread, fruits, vegetables, and other staples.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the president and administration officials as they seek ways to keep food assistance programs funded.
